Wild West Pinball Fest 97 Pictorial Review

by John R Graves

Thanks to all who made this show possible!
Well, here we are in
Scottsdale AZ... We don't
get too many of these trees
in Colorado!

  The first day (Friday) we
met Val. "So you want to help!!"
she said with an evil grin!
Needless to say... we didn't
have much time to take pictures
on this day! We were quite busy
helping with the move.

Well... now everything
was set.
The NBA Fast Breaks.

  The Rodeo.

time to

Play Ball

There were many rows just like these.
There was a good mix of older...
  and newer machines.
I liked the signs
"Make a friend... share a game..."
It should have read:
"Make a friend... don't hog the freakin machine
all day with no regard for others!" IMHO
There were many machines
I had never seen. I really
liked the Flintstones .

My wife liked this Dirty Harry.
Hmmm... I think I'll go play
another game of Scared Stiff...
"ohhh Elvira! "
This Safe Cracker was fun!
It took awhile to figure out
the rules. I think I might be
able to squeeze one more machine
in my basement if it was this small.

  Here I am showing off.
Look honey, I drained again
but the ball keeps coming back!
Here is my wife showing me a few things.
"Is it my turn yet!!!.. Ok I'll take more pictures.

Out front there were some "special" machines.
A Big Bang Bar!
I think it has one too many rubber bands in it!

  And an Addams Family Gold!
With one small modification!
There was a raffle for this Cyclone.
Here is Jim West giving it a try.
Bruce Hanson was on hand to draw
caricatures.
Great! More places to spend money! hehe

   Back inside there were several
one of a kind machines like this one,
"The Edge" built by Dangerious Dann.
Here are some of the rodeo machines.
What a great idea... Stand on your
feet all day, then go play the stomper!!!
(They should have wheelchairs available!)

The Banquet!

The banquet was alot of fun.
Maybe too much!
HEY MOE!
"Watch out for this table!"
"They're a loud bunch!"
Thanks alot Val!

Here we are, me(John Graves), Greg Labuhn,
and Jim West. (Respectively)
As you can see, it was difficult to keep all the
screeming women away!...maybe that was
a different photo...
Dave Mercer was also at our table.
We thought we were pinball nuts!!!
Dave is quite famous for his packing
abilities.

Here is Dann giving a very long...
very boring... speech! :) Just kidding
As you can see, we had the best seats
in the house!!!
We were at the banquet for the fun,
food, and conversation...but what we
really wanted was PRIZES!!!

They gave away all sorts of neat toys.
We won a bunch of posters.
Dave here won some... stuff.
Then came George Gomez.
He gave a great speech...
Thanks George for sharing all
that information about Willaims/Bally
Production Numbers, Future Machines
Corprate secrets etc... :)

Last Day...

Well, it was time to finish things up.
Here I am trying to win the Martian contest.
Jim: "Hey John!, is it my turn yet!!!"
John: "LOOK... I just killed another Martian!
that makes 6!  Think that will be enough
to win?"

Here is a wonderful shot of the Joust tournament.
You can almost recognize...people...playing pinball.
It was time to say goodbye. I'm glad the next
show is only three months away. Here is Herb
Silvers and his wife Genise. They run the Las Vegas
show "Pinball Fantasy 97."
